Oregon Visit

video

Carter meeting my mom and dad's dog Lucy. Carter just loves her, and thinks she is so funny. We just love to see him laugh. It makes us laugh so much. It even makes us think we need a small dog....then we think about the zoo we have and forget about it. Carter will grow in to Koda soon enough.

Chris, Carter and I are in Oregon visiting family and friends. We came to celebrate Chris' dad's birthday and retirement with a Crawfish broil, from Louisiana. (trying to do a southern thing.) We have been go-go-go since we got here, and never slowing down. Carter has been great through all of this. Here are a few videos to get y'all by, till I get home and upload my camera.

video

Carter experiencing sand for the first time. He loved it. He didn't try to eat it, like we thought her would. He liked the feeling. It was a little cool out, but we found a warm sand spot.

Chris doing a crawfish broil for his dad's retirement party and birthday. (we are going to leave the age out.....but hey he did retire, so thats a hint.)

Tummy Time/ Nap Time

For the longest time Carter hated his tummy, he didn't like to be put there, he just burried his head and screamed. Then he learned to wiggle around a little, and became okay with it. Well the past couple days I will get Carter ready for a nap or bedtime and I lay him down. Before I can even make it to the door to shut it, he has squirmed onto him side/tummy. Every time I go get him after a nap or in the morning, he's on him tummy. I think he is sleeping longer like that. It's so cute to see him flip over, while sleepy. He has gotten himself into some odd positions at night now. Some of them make him mad. We took out everything from his crib, he was cut from the swaddel cold turkey about 3 weeks ago, and didn't care. He got his glow worm taken away, and doesn't care. He's just too cute. Well, that's about the big news of the week. He is lunging at things much more forcefully, we'll see if he crawls soon.
Have a great week.

5 Year Anniversary, June 26th!!!!!

Over the past 5 years things have come and gone. We still have the same phone, dishes, silverware, bed, and tv. We have some new things too; couches, hometown, computer, cars and rugs. But stuff is just stuff, we have been so bless over the past 5 years, we have 2 kitties, 1 dog, our baby boy, many new friends, wonderful old friends. We can't wait to see what God does in our marriage in the next 5 years, then 10, 15, 20 and 50 more.

Father's Day

Oh that looks yummy...

not really what I thought it would be....

rash pics...sorry, they aren't the best, and not needed for my blog, but they are for my mother.

Carter with his Daddy on Father's Day
Looking at fish

This video was sunday morning for father's day. Carter was feeling much better.

video

By father's day, Carter was feeling much better. He woke up with a normal temp. 98.8. But he had a rash all over his body. We weren't worried since our doctor told us that if infact it is a virus, he'll finish it off with a rash, I guess it's the way is get's out of your body. Anywho, so we couldn't go to church, since the nursery wouldn't take him. So we hung out at home. Untill late in the afternoon, Carter wanted to take daddy to cabella's, to look at the fish and animals. We were there for a while, then we came back home and watched Nascar. When Chris was holding Carter, Carter would look at me, and face plant into the boppy pillow, sucking on it. We would laugh, so he would do it again. It was so cute. I thought this is just a glimps of moments to come of him making us laugh.

This weekend we also started to give Carter baby food. He is so ready to eat. He loves to open his mouth a eat. Sometimes I cna't shovel it in fast enough, before he gets mad. He loves sweet potatos, and is just now really liking squash too. I think he doens't like his rice cereal anymore though. We have to fight him on that now, which he used to eat just fine. I wonder if it's becuase he would rather have a veggy?!?!?! Anywho we are open to know what other kids do, and we ar just going to try what works I guess.

Daddy's Day Weekend, Doctor's Visit

Carter decided to plan two days with fun for him and his daddy. He didn't plan on being sick this weekend though. To start off the weekend, Carter made daddy coffee, (mommy helped of course) Then we went to Baja Fresh after Carter's nap. Chris loves that place, and it's not close by, so it's a real treat. We went grogery shopping where Carter got to sit in daddy's lap in the parking lot. During Carter's 2nd nap, Chris and I cleaned out the garage, and he mowed the lawn. More to come for tomorrow.

On Friday Chris met me at the doctor's office. Carter is 17.1lbs now. We have his actual 6 month appt on monday, for his well-baby visit. This just so happened to be on his 6 month birthday, but it was not for a very well baby at all. Carter got poked in the nose, and his temp taken, both of which you can see how he really felt. Once we got home from the doctor's office, he napped another 2 hours and then his temp just dropped. He went from being around 101-103 for 2 days, to 99. I was so happy, and he was back to his happy self by the time Chris got home from work. He laughed and played. Then this morning it was back up to 100, and he was a little fussy again, so we gave him more motrin, and he was okay again. We are just going to watch him one mroe day, to make sure he doesn't have a fever. It's been tough on me this weekend, because Carter has such a great schedule, and now he's napping whenever, so I don't know when to feed him, or put him to bed.....I don't like being thrown off. Speaking of things being different. Carter hasn't wanted to nurse as much today. I don't know if it's becuase he doens't feel good still, or if he's trying to tell me he's done breastfeeding. Tonight he ate Sweet Potatoes for the first time.....he LOVED them. Then he had his rice cereal, and he ate it, but he looked like, "Hey, where's the good stuff?" Then I tried to breastfeed him 2.5 hours later for bedtime, and he wanted NONE of it. He cried and arched his back...so I don't know if he was full, or just didn't want to breastfeed anymore. I hate not knowing what he wants and him being sick doens't help alone with no routine these last few days.

But at least he's getting better.

If y'all would, please keep our friends Ty & Kara and their new baby James in your prayers. James is 2 weeks old, and he has come down with a high fever as well, they are at Cook's Medical hospital in Fort Worth tonight, and most likly tomorrow as well. I know God will heal him, but pray for a quick recovery so they can go home. (He was also on a light bed for jaundice for 2-3 days too.)

6 Months Old, It's 103.2F, (Not the Weather)

Well today is Carter's 6 month birthday....he woke up screaming, not for joy.

Carter was greeted today by another high fever, this time 103.2, we called the dcotor right away. We have it down around 100.7 now. He has been very sleepy today from the medicine. I take his temp every couple hours, and he is getting used to it. These are the only pics I will probably get of him today, becuase he's either crying or sleeping. He isn't his usual happy self. (He has on no clothes, becuase he was soooo hot.) Well we are off to the doctor.

Carter's First Fever, and more laugh videos

I thought we would make it to 6 months without any fevers. Today is the day before Carter turns 6 months old. He woke up this morning really crying, which he doens't do. He always wakes up around 6:45, but we leave him till about 7, (so we can get 15 more minutes of sleep, and he just enjoys playing with the bars on the crib, and his blanky.) However today he slept in till 7:30, and was so upset. Chris went and got him. I fed him, changed him, rocked him, burped him....nothing was working.....what happened to my happy boy? I rubbed my fingers on his gums.

Silence

I think he is really getting ready to pop a tooth out...... i know...I have heard you don't get fevers with teething, and I hvae also heard that you can get a low grade temp. Either way, Carter has a soar mouth and he had a 101.1 temp today. I gave him tylenol, and he napped well today, so hopefully, he'll be over it soon. Pray for a healthy, happy baby. I just wanted to hold him all night and rock him, he's so sweet when he doens't feel good. What a cuddle-bug.

Here's also some more of Carter and Katelyn laughing.. this was prior to Carter's fever. I love how Carter lunges at Katelyn. They are relaly starting to have fun together. (Luke, I promise Carter will always ask your permision before he starts anything with your daughter.)

Yackety-YACK....

video

Today when Katelyn and Carter were playing they just started to laugh and babble back and fourth. It was so cute. It went on for about 20 minutes. Carter is quite the little chatterbox these days. We just love him so much. There's much more going on, but Carter is in my arms so this is about the most I can do.

Have a great day.

Nap????? And more weather stuff

Here's Carter the other day in his hat. He wears for walks, to keep the sun out of his face, but the other day he could have used that for the rain too, huh. He looks like Giligans Island to me.

After the big storm on Wed night, thur was just pouring buckets. DFW had flash floods all day, Dallas had major flooding issues. Keller got 5.8 inches of rain in one day. There was more lightening that day than the whole year so far put together. This is what my garden looked like. I had to wait for the rain to let up to poke my head out to get a photo. (and you can tell it's still raining hard.)

I thought to myself, I didn't want to lose all the veggies in the rain, so I guess I will pick my beans now. Some of them weren't ready, so i left them on the stocks to grown more. I was so exited. I read online how to freeze corn, once it's ready, and how to harvest beans. If you have any tips let me know. I am growing corn, beans, onions, tomatoes, zuchini, cucumber, potatos (which I know nothing about.), and watermellon. I am super exited.

So this week Carter started to take GREAT naps. He takes about 1.5 to 2.5 hour naps, and he used to cry when he woke up. However, lately, I would look at the clock and think, "my goodness he's been sleeping for a while." If I listened real close to the monitor I could hear a little noise. I walked in the find him wide awake playing. He's getting so big. His curiosity is just amazing to me. Everything around him, he's taking it in, and checking it out. This morning Chris woke up to go get him, and I guess he was turned around the other way all the way up the crib. What a little wiggely boy. I don't mind this at all, I love that he is able to entertain himself, and understand what's around him.

This video was him today. He has his blanky by his head. (10 minutes after this video I took the last picture on this post...look at his progress.)

video

This was yesterday. Sorry I had the blinds closed, so it's hard to see.

video

as I was typing this blog I heard Carter's alarm go off, rushing in to make sure he was still okay this is what I saw. I guess he has rolled out of the sensors range. you can see where his white blanket is...that's where I laid him down, feet facing to your right. I was talking with my friend Courtney about the fact that I still swaddle him...I guess you are right. He will let me know when he is done with that. I think yesterday and today he's letting me know.

Beauty & the Beast

I am tlaking about the weather here. The past few days have been so beautiul...we spend time in the pool, looking outside, walking a little. In fact it is getting hot. Carter and Katelyn, (the little girl I watch) had a lot of fun in the pool. Katlyn really likes to splash while Carter takes it all in. He doesn't find getting splashed a little. Katelyn had the cutest little outfit...I love the glasses, she also had a cute hat to go with it.

My little G.Q. he started to turn his head for photos, "mom, get my good side."

Video of the kids playing in the pool.

video

Carter really laughs a lot these days, mostly when we play with him, but he also laughs just at anything. Carter laughs every time Koda wags his tail.

video

Last night the Beast came out... I was at our friends Ty & Kara's house for dinner when Chris came by after work. We were playing the new Band game...guitar hero, but with the whole band. (I forget the name, and Kara I need a raincheck since i didn't get a change to play.) Anywho. Chris told us there was a tornado watch in effect and it should hit their town at 7:01. So we looked outside, sure enough it all of a sudden turned dark, and their backyard was really getting windy. Kara's parents were visiting, and let me tell you they have experience and were very efficient. Kara's mom had a mattress in the bathroom within about 2 minutes, all the women and children were in the bathtub, and the men were getting flash lights and the rest. (oh, and we did all this in the dark, the power of course went off.) We sat in that tub with 4 kids (Mikayla, Lucas, Carter and new Baby James, 5 days old.) for about 40 minutes. No one was scared, but they were just ready to get out. To make a long story short, we were all okay. Just lots or really heavy wind, rain and lightening. This is what we found when we went outside. Once Chris and I got home, we checked on our veggy garden, and I only lost one stock of corn...not bad. It does however lean a little bit now.
Today it is rainy and still having a ton of lightening. I guess we will just stay inside today and play games.
